Every young person at FYI receives a personalised programme designed around their individual strengths, interests and EHCP outcomes. Whether the focus is re-engaging with education, developing functional skills, building confidence, increasing independence or preparing for adulthood, every session has a clear purpose.

Our one-to-one approach allows us to work at the young person's pace, adapting learning and support as their needs evolve. By combining education, mentoring and meaningful enrichment opportunities, we create bespoke programmes that support both academic progress and personal development.

Our services include:

• 1:1 tuition sessions held in safe, supportive classroom spaces.

• Functional Skills tuition and qualifications.

• Entry Level 1, 2 and 3, and Level 1 and 2 English and Maths (one-to-one, available face-to-face and online).

• Qualifications available throughout the year, rather than only during the final term of Year 11. When a young person's tutor feels they are ready, we arrange their Functional Skills assessment.

• Registered Pearson qualification provider for English and Maths assessments.

• Duke of Edinburgh Award programme (see below).

• 1:1 Specialist Mentoring (4pm–9am provision available).

A Typical 3-Hour Session at FYI

No two programmes look exactly the same, but a typical three-hour session might include:

9:00am: Collection
The young person is collected by a mentor and transported safely to a FYI learning location.

9:30am – 10:30am: 1:1 Functional Skills Tuition
Personalised English and/or Maths tuition delivered at the young person's individual level, with learning linked to their educational targets and EHCP outcomes.

10:45am – 11:45am: Enrichment, Vocational Learning or Mentoring
This may include vocational learning, life skills, employability activities, wellbeing sessions, community-based learning or specialist mentoring, depending on the young person's personalised programme.

12:00pm: Return Home
The session concludes with transport back home or to the agreed destination.

This structure provides consistency whilst allowing flexibility to respond to each young person's changing needs, interests and progress.
